Treasure Hunters

Jesus often taught his disciples about treasures. To understand his teachings, we must change the way we think and see things. Our minds are focused on earthly things. We must be born again to see a spiritual lesson. In the Bible, St. Matthew 45-46. "Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it." The merchant men are the people seeking salvation, and the good pearl is the kingdom of heaven. We must be willing to pay the price to let the world go. Verse 44 provides clarity on hidden treasures. The joy of finding salvation is priceless. The price is following Christ. We have entered into his sufferings. The Via Dolorosa ("Way of suffering") is the path Christ took to pay for our salvation. Christ fell on the way, but it didn't keep him from completing his mission. We will fall on our journey; keep your eyes on Christ the Lord. Suffering is no excuse for not keeping the faith. The treasure is at Calvary.
There is a warning about selfishness. Matthew 6:19-21. "Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal. But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through and steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Salvation is free, but it is not cheap. Did you find your treasure yet? Look to Christ, and you will find it.
