When you understand the word STAY, you must realize that it means to continue. No matter what you must be committed to not being moved. One of our biggest problems is staying power; any little thing can shake our faith. The real problem is when you do not have a SOURCE that you can depend on. Most people rely on resources and the sad thing about resources, they run out and they dry up. When I say stay connected to the vine, I’m saying stick with you SOURCE. If your source is mammon (money), you will find it hard to find at times and when it runs out, what are you going to do? Many strong men have become weak because they trusted in a resource that came to an end. Don’t put your trust in things nor trust in a god that cannot hear and answer you. In your time of need you need a God of love, mercy and compassion. In the bible Jesus teaches a lesson about staying connected to the SOURCE. Jesus uses a parable of a vine and its branches to make His lesson clear. In the (KJV) St. John 15: 4-5, “Abide in me, and I in you, As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me you can do nothing.” There are so many things that can disconnect you from your source. If you have no faith, you will not stay connected to the vine. If you fail to pray, your sin will hinder your spiritual growth and you will not be fruitful. Prayer is the lifeline to God. If you love money and the world more than God, it will separate you from your source. God is our UNLIMINTED SOURCE and we can depend on Him. When you love God and follow Christ you are able to produce spiritual fruit. In Christ we have our movement and our being. Jesus is teaching us that the way of love is the KEY to abiding in the vine (Him). Then there is a warning, if you fail to stay connected. Read verse 6, “If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered: and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.” God does not entertain man in his folly, you must make the decision to live in Christ or to die in your sins. Jesus wants you to know that keeping His commandments will help you to abide in His love. Then He tells us that He has abided in the Father’s love and we must do the same to stay connected…
