Pride is harmful to a man and his soul. Sometimes we feel like our pride is the only thing that we have that no one can take from us. Holding on to your pride can be devastating. Try paying your light bill with your pride, and you will find yourself sitting in the dark. When you are too proud to ask for something that you need, what do you do? The pride of life can destroy your soul and hurt others around you. It’s like a cancer; when it goes untreated, it only gets worse. In the Bible, you can find many scriptures about the danger of pride. In the King James Version, Proverbs 16:18, “Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.” Pride is in the heart of a man, and only God knows the heart. Pride says, " Look at me, “Don’t I look good,” but humility says, See Christ in me.” Your pride will not pick you up after a great fall. Pride hinders your thoughts and the way that you see things in life. If you can only see life your way, you have a closed mind. When a man is lifted up with pride, he will fall into the condemnation of the devil. We must put off PRIDE and put on HUMILITY. Jesus said, “Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.” Pride is of the flesh, and the New Birth is of the Spirit of God. You must make a choice: to follow Christ, which leads to eternal life, or to die in your sinful pride. The path of righteousness is the first step to putting away your pride. When you are born again, your life is in Christ, and your pride dies in the flesh. The new birth causes a CHANGE to your life that only God can give. The way you think and the way that you see things ought to be different. Then get ready for the CHALLENGE to live for God. The struggle within us will be a daily fight. You must choose to do that which is right over the pleasure of sin. You must study the Word of God and learn how to pray. Prayer will help you to overcome your sinful pride and humble yourself before God. Prayer is not going to change things, but it will change you. When you put on humility, it will dismantle your pride… Let everything that you do, do it for the glory of God in the name of Jesus.
