The Process of the New Birth

Updated: Jan 9

Most of us do not understand the teaching of the new birth. A rebirth is not a new birth. Penance is not repentance. Turning over a new leaf is the same leaf. A CHANGE best describes the new birth. Jesus said, "that a man could not see the Kingdom of God without being born again." We can understand the process by studying St. John 3:5-8. "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh: and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again. The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but thou canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit." The question is, how can these things be? Being in the natural mind, we can only conceive earthly things. God gives us a new nature with a spiritual birth. The naturalist believes in what he can see. The spiritual man believes by faith. We can build a relationship with God only through the Holy Spirit.
