Hear the Call to Pray

Prayer is the key to your spiritual growth. Without prayer, you will become weak. You will experience a defeated spiritual life. Prayer gives you the inner strength and the power to live for God. Prayer works through faith. When you pray, you must believe that God will grant the desires of your heart. Don't get caught up in the game of "name it and claim it" and "believe it and receive it." It sounds good, but it is only emotional. It's also conditional. Prayer time is not playtime. Prayer is an opportunity to communicate with God. Jesus teaches what we should do. In the bible (KJV), St. Matthew 6:6 "But thou, when thou prayest, enter thou closet, and when thou hast shut the door, pray to thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." To enter the closet means, getting to a place and being alone. To shut the door is to tune out any distractions. Prayer is as serious as breathing, it's personal. Jesus said, "Men ought to always pray and not faint." He was not talking about passing out onto the floor but not giving up. Prayer leads to repentance. The man who prays should see his wicked way. When you acknowledge that you are a sinner, you can pray a sincere prayer. Prayer gives you the chance to confess your sins. Prayer will help a man overcome his sin or sin will entice him to cease prayer. The command to pray is not a request; it's a REQUIREMENT. There are many times that you don't feel like praying; this is when prayer is URGENT. It is a sin when we don't pray. We must be OBEDIENT to the call to pray. When you pray be humble and submit to the Spirit of God.
